Seared steak with garlic sauce

I made this the other day because I was watching the Food Network and they were talking about searing meat so I thought it would be a good idea.

Keep in mind that if you like your steak cooked more than medium rare and your steak is fairly cooked, you will have to throw it in the oven for a whole after searing. It still works as a great tool for keeping the juices in though.

As you may have seen I have made garlic cream sauce for chicken before and even used a (slightly altered) version for pasta sauce. Well, I thought it might also be nice with some mushrooms and onions on top of a seared steak.

Make the cream sauce as your normally would, except when you are cooking the garlic at the beginning, also cook your mushrooms and onions. I forgot my mushrooms and so cooked them separately and added them after.

To sear the steak, season one side with some steak spice, garlic salt, and tex mex seasoning.

Next, get a pan large enough to put your steak in and put enough oil in to cover the bottom.
Put it on medium to medium-high heat and let it heat up completely.
Place the SEASONED SIDE FIRST onto the pan. You should hear lots of sizzling.
Leave it on there until the sizzling sound starts to change or die down. Try to avoid lifting the meat to check it.

Flip it over and cook the other side. As I said, if your find it too rare for your liking, bake it in the oven for a while.

Pour a tablespoon or two of your garlic sauce over top of your seared steak and enjoy.

I paired my steak with some rice and veggies in my home made teriyaki sauce.

An easier way to make the teriyaki sauce (different than cooking it before hand) is to just cook it in the pan you will be mixing everything in.
Start with medium heat and cook minced garlic in butter. Add the teriyaki sauce. Add some brown sugar, making sure to taste it so you don't make it too sweet.
Add some ginger (or cinnamon) to taste as well. Just stir and boil. Once it has boiled you can add your veggies or, if you need to, add some spices to alter the flavour a little.

Just pour over the rice and serve with your steak.

YUM!

As a side note, I had some left overs the next day and decided to get creative.

I cut up my steak with the sauce and put it on a wrap with the rice and veggies. Not bad!
