BBQ pork chops and crispy potatoes

Image
So for the BBQ sauce I made my regular sauce with beer and ketchup base but I added two small garlic cloves and some red onion as well as the BBQ chicken, greek and lemon pepper spices. Again, you can bake it BBQ the meat but marinate for the best flavor. The potatoes were easy but took some prep time. I peeled and slices them and laid them out on a long sheet of tin foil. I chopped up red and white onion, red and green peepers, 1/4 of a medium apple, and green string beans (not chopped). Put lots of BBQ spice on it with celery salt, some lemon juice, Thai spice, and lots of bread crumbs if you want them crispy. I also added a small chopped garlic clove. Close up the tin foil and bake until potatoes are soft.

Groceries

So as some of you know I'm a student and I live at home which I why I always make my own sauces; I don't do the grocery shopping. Well, since I don't pay rent and basically live with my bf and his parents we made a deal that I would cook and do most of the grocery shopping so I'm really excited. We had our first shopping trip today and i got some REAL garlic and some new spices, including BBQ chicken, greek and Thai. Just a heads up that from now on when I refer to garlic I mean real galic, not garlic in a jar!!!!

Spicy scalloped potatoes and tequila chicken

Image
So this one is pretty good although I'm not exactly positive what i put in it and the potatoes were a little spicy for me. For the chicken I mixed in a bowl (about enough to coat them) tequila as a base, a little bit of BBQ to thicken it up Dijon mustard, celery salt, lots of italian seasoning, and whatever other spices you like. Ideally you would marinate the chicken for a few hours but I didn't have time so I just coated it and cooked it. For the potato sauce I actually used the garlic dip you get with your pizza as a base lol and then I added caesar with bacon, mustard, spicy salsa, dil sauce, honey mustard, garlic, lemon pepper, white onion, chili pepper flakes and franks red hot sauce. Coat the potatoes in the sauce (you'll want quite a bit or they'll get dry) and add lots and lots of cheddar or marble cheese. Bake both the chicken and the potatoes until cooked and thats it!

Ribs and potatoes

Image
Hey everyone! So for the ribs I used the same sauce as for the chicken from before but I added some Dijon mustard and more spices (thyme, etc.) and onions. Again, you should marinate for best flavor. For the potatoes I mixed even parts of a buttermilk dill sauce and smoky applewood BBQ sauce, added some Dijon mustard, potato seasoning, garlic and celery salt, and lemon pepper. Only make enough sauce to coat the potatoes lightly because you just want it for a little flavor, they're cut thin so marination is not the goal. I cut up some red and green peppers and onions and mixed the chopped potatoes, sauce and veggies all together. I let them sit too but it's probably not necessary. BBQ or bake the ribs and fry the potatoes so that they're crispy. You could bake them also if it's easier.

Heavenly Hashbrowns

Image
For this delicious recipe you will need hash browns, cheese, a BBQ sauce of your choice, ranch dressing, onions, garlic salt, pepper and celery salt. To start off, finely chop onions and grate cheese. Using butter or oil, fry the hash browns with onions until they are golden brown, seasoning generously. Add BBQ sauce and ranch (only enough to coat hash browns), add the cheese on top, and once the cheese has melted, serve it. I found it a little dry so I drizzled some more BBQ and ranch on top. Add some toast with butter for a delicious lunch!

Vegetables and Rice

Image
I'm so excited about this one!!! I really had no idea what I was doing when I started and I made the sauce myself, using stuff I already had, so it took a while to find something that worked. You will need: Sausage (optional) Peppers Onions Tomato Mushrooms Rice and for the sauce Honey garlic sauce French dressing Garlic Ground mustard (a pinch) Celery salt Lemon pepper Italian seasoning Potato seasoning Dill weed When I started, the sausage was already cooked, but I'm sure you could do it without cooking it first and instead cook it with everything else. Spicy Italian sausage would be good but I just used regular sausage. Start by cutting up all the vegetables into strips just like you would for a stir fry and putting them into a baking pan. After each layer, I added some spices on top as well - you can choose whichever ones you want. Add the sausage as well. To make the sauce, mix about half and half of the honey garlic and french dressing - that will b...

Cupcakes!!!

Image
There is no recipe for these - they're from a box with regular icing from a tin but I wanted to post them to show the design. I made them for my boyfriend's 20th birthday - they're supposed to look like boobies!!!! I didn't have a decorating kit so I had to improvise which is why I used candy and also why it's not perfect.  Here they are!

Chicken and Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes

Image
Hi all, So this is my first post, and although I'm going to try my hardest to post pictures for all of my dishes, I don't have pictures for this one (next time I make it I will post pictures). I prepared chicken breast with home made barbeque sauce (a recipe I learned when I was young, tweaked a little) and specialty potatoes, a recipe I created on my own! We will start with the chicken. I always like to marinate the things I cook so that it can absorb the flavour, but that's completely up to the chef. To make the barbeque sauce you will need: Ketchup Beer, Pepsi, or Coke (I like to use beer) Brown sugar Hickory (or HP sauce if you don't have hickory) Garlic salt Celery salt and any other spices that you enjoy (again, it's up to what you like, these are the main ingredients). Begin with the ketchup, and put about half as much ketchup in as you would like total for sauce. Then add the beer until the consistency seems right. Add some brown sugar until it tast...

Welcome to my cooking blog!

Hello everyone! I've decided to create this blog because I really love cooking however I don't usually follow recipes or use cookbooks when I cook. I really enjoy making up new dishes and trying things out so I thought it would be interesting to share my creations with the world, especially since cooking is not my career and so it's only family and friends that get to see and taste it! I would love for people to try out my recipes and let me know how they liked them, and even to give feedback on the dishes. I am also open to suggestions of things to make as I LOVE trying new things! I hope you guys enjoy!
