BBQ sauce bottling

Image
As I mentioned in my last post, if you prefer homemade BBQ sauce it would be wise to make a large amount. The problem is where to keep it. Well, I have a solution. Make the BBQ sauce and then get an empty Kraft salad dressing bottle and clean it out and rip all of the labels off. Get a funnel and pour the sauce into it. Just put a label on it so everyone knows what it is.

Drumsticks and creamy mashed potatoes with a vegetable medley

Image
This was super yummy, except I found the veggies a little too strongly flavored, so another sauce might be better or just less of it. For the veggies you'll need: I medium tomato 1 small red bell pepper 1/2 large orange bell pepper 1 medium onion 3-6 radishes 1 cup of chopped green beans 1/3 of a cucumber 1/2 cup of Italian dressing 3 tablespoons of garlic salt 3 tablespoons of Greek seasoning 1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella or feta cheese Chop up all of the veggies into bite sized pieces and place in a large bakin dish. Make sure that everything is spread out and not piled up too much. Sprinkle with the seasonings and then pour the dressing evenly overtop. Adding some catalina or something else that is sweet may help with the flavour. Bake at 425 for 30-40 minutes or until the veggies start to brown. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheese over top. This would also be really good raw as a sort of veggie salad. For the chicken, you just need about ...

BBQ chicken with pasta and cauliflower

Image
I took the recipe for the cauliflower off of a post I found on Pinterest and altered it a little and the BBQ sauce I made for the chicken is the same sauce I always make, so you can see earlier posts for that. The only difference is that I added a little bit of hot sauce to it. To make your home made tomato pasta sauce, you'll need: 3 medium tomatoes 1/4-1/4 cup of half and half cream 1/2 chopped green or red bell pepper (red would be better but I only had green) 3 tablespoons of ranch dressing, Dijon or honey mustard, and Catalina dressing 1/4 can of tomato soup 1/2 cup of ketchup 1 cup of cheddar cheese, chopped Dice the tomatoes finely on top of a cutting board or plate, and pour into a sauce pan, making sure to get all of the juice in the pan. Take a potato masher and mash the tomatoes up (unless you like big chunks) until it is mostly liquid. Add the rest of the ingredients, stirring on medium and tasting intermittently to make sure it tastes ok. Feel free to ad...

Homemade sauce for ribs and Greek garlic asparagus

Image
I also did potatoes with this meal, but I did them pretty much the same as a previous entry (crispy roasted potatoes). This meal will feed 5-6 people. For the BBQ sauce you need: 1 cup ketchup 1/2 cup coke or beer 1/2 cup of brown sugar 2 tablespoons of hickory or HP sauce 1 tablespoon of mustard 1/4 onion 2 garlic cloves 1 tablespoon each of Greek seasoning, Thai seasoning and BBQ chicken seasoning To make the sauce, chop finely and sauté the onion and garlic in a tablespoon or two of butter or margarine (use  5 cloves and a whole onion as the rest can be used later  for the asparagus). Ads all of the ingredients above together (minus the extra onion and garlic) to make your sauce. Be sure to taste it, as I didn't use exact measurements when I made it so you may have to make adjustments. Coat 8 pieces of button pork ribs in the sauce and cook for 40 minutes at 380, or until done (ovens vary). For the asparagus you need: 1 bunch of asparagus ...

Egg noodle and veggie dish

Image
This is a quick dish you can make a lot of in a short period of time and can fill you up. You can also add meat to it if you'd like. This recipe feeds 3 people. You'll need: 1/2 large white onion 1/2 each of a red, green and yellow bell pepper 3 chunks from an egg noodle package 1/4 cup of soya sauce 2 tablespoons of brown sugar 1-2 teaspoons of garlic salt 1-2 teaspoons of Thai seasoning 4 cloves of garlic 2 tablespoons of margarine, butter, or cooking oil Put some water in a pot and bring to a boil. Add the noodles and cook until al dente. While the noodles cook, chop up the peppers into bite size pieces and the onion and garlic into small pieces. Put the butter in a large, deep frying pan and melt. Add the vegetables and cook until they begin to soften. Add the spices, the soy sauce, and the brown sugar into the pan and stir, making sure to mix everything well. Once the noodles have finished cooking, strain them and add them to the pan of veggies, coo...
